Zürcher Odio & Raven is the product of the merger of two of the oldest and most prestigious law firms in Central America. The result is one of the largest organised law firms in the region with a full-range portfolio of legal services and seeking to fulfil the demanding needs of their growing clientele. Its services are characterised by integrated teamwork and by long-term commitment to clients. The firm has achieved recognition both for its very high quality of legal advice and for its strict adherence to ethical and professional standards. The firm presently counts 36 lawyers led by seven partners.

Areas of practice

Private law and corporate issues: The firm has a very active practice in commercial and civil law, real estate transactions, intellectual property, labour law, civil litigation, corporate law and finance. It also provides legal support in complex transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, share offers and takeovers, project finance, and international financial transactions.

Banking, finance and securities: The firm has a large number of financial institutions among its permanent clients. Thus we have substantial experience in all forms of financial contracts, banking and brokerage, leasing, commodity and financial derivatives for hedging, speculation and arbitrage, and benefit from a wealth of knowledge in the contractual and regulatory aspects of operations, and their impact in exchange, tax and financial law.

Real estate and tourism project development: Real estate development and tourism have become one of the most active areas, and our specialised team has been involved in a very large number of residential, commercial and hospitality projects.

Intellectual property: The firm has had for a very long time the distinction of being one of the main firms in the country for intellectual property dealing with registration of trademarks, patents and other forms of IP, as well as enforcement and protection of IP rights.

Regulation, administrative and constitutional law: Our team is among the best in this area and has participated in major recent projects related to public law. Long-standing experience in government procurement, administrative regulations and constitutional law has grown into expert legal advice in public work concessions, tourism concessions, private and public sector partnership and joint ventures, public project finance and infrastructure development.

Foreign investment and international trade: The firm is recognised as an authority in the area specialising in foreign direct investment and international trade, including WTO, CACM, and all FTAs in force.
