Rafael Vergara

Partner of Carey y Cía and co-head of its natural resources and environment group. His practice focuses on natural resources, mining, energy, environment, pharmaceutical, municipal and planning.

He is professor of Mining Law at Universidad de Chile and Universidad de Los Andes. He is member of the board of the Chilean Bar Association, of the legal committee of the National Mining Association and secretary since 2001 of the Latin American Mining Lawyers Association. He also participates of the Rocky Mountain Foundation. He is co-author of the 2008 Chilean chapter of Getting the Deal Through - Mining.

Mr Vergara studied law at Universidad de Chile, being admitted to the Bar in 1987. He was a participant in the 1993 course of the Academy of American and International Law of the Southwestern Legal Foundation (US) and in the 1997 Program of Instruction for Lawyers of the Harvard University Law School.
