Mr. Alberto Varillas specializes in labour law and immigration matters as well and in oil and gas legislation. He is a member of the Employment and Labor Committee of the National Employment Council on behalf of the National Mining, Oil and Energy Society (since 2001). Mr. Varillas is a Board member of National Mining, Oil and Energy Society and chairs its Hydrocarbons Law Committee; he is also part of the Board of the Legal Affairs Committee at AMCHAM. He has been Vice-President and President of the National Institute of Mining, Oil and Energy Law (2002-2005) and is a former Labor Law Professor at the Universidad del Pacífico (2001-2002) and former Member of the Ministry of Labor Advisory Committee (1997-1999). Mr. Varillas is a lawyer graduated at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (1988) and holds a Masters Degree in Law by the University of Texas at Austin School of Law (1989), speaks fluent English, and is a member of the Lima Bar Association.
