Alejandro Sainz is the managing partner of the firm. He represents national and multinational clients in a broad range of transactional matters, providing legal advice in the areas of corporate, banking, finance and commercial law, including reorganisations, restructurings and work-outs, bankruptcy and insolvency procedures, project and corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, joint ventures, and infrastructure, real estate and telecommunications transactions. He is one of the most well known attorneys in restructuring matters. Mr Sainz was selected by Latin Lawyer magazine as one of Mexico’s top 40 lawyers under the age of 40. Mr Sainz is author of several articles in corporate, real estate and insolvency matters. He speaks Spanish and English. He is a founder and partner of Cervantes Sainz and was a partner at Jáuregui, Navarrete y Nader, as well as being a senior associate at Santamarina y Steta and a foreign associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr (Boston). He was educated at Harvard University (postgraduate studies in US Law and Business Transactions, 1996), Escuela Libre de Derecho (postgraduate studies in Corporate, Banking and Finance Law, from 1994 to 1995), Universidad Panamericana (diploma programme in North American Legal System, 1993; JD equivalent, 1993) and Harvard Business School (executive education, diploma programme in Negotiation, October 2004). He is a member of the Mexican Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is professor of business law and commercial contracts at Universidad Iberoamericana and is an active speaker at international conferences and seminars on Mexican business legal issues and insolvency procedures. He is a certified mediator of the Instituto Mexicano de la Mediación. He is a board member of a prominent private financial group and of several public and private corporations.
