Jaime P. Zaldumbide is a partner at Pérez Bustamante & Ponce, one of Ecuador’s leading law firms. He is actively involved in the fields of oil and energy, international investment, mining and environmental law. He is a member of the Quito Bar Association; director for Ecuador of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN); vice president of the board of directors for CEDA (Ecuadorian Center of Environmental Law); former member of the board of directors of the Chambers of Industries of Quito. Mr. Zaldumbide was also head of the legal committee for the Ecuadorian Hydrocarbons Industry (AIHE) and an arbitrator for the Construction Chamber of Quito.
He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences in 1981 and his Doctorate in Law in 1983 by the Catholic University of Quito. In 2005 he obtained his Master’s degree in Environmental Law by the University of the Basque Country at San Sebastián, Spain. He has attended several graduate programs at Harvard Law School, Columbia University, the Southwestern Legal Foundation and the Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
