He was National Secretary of Justice (January to March 2007), is a former director of the department of asset recovery and international legal cooperation of the Ministry of Justice, a member of the Council for Control of Financial Activities (COAF), coordinator of the National Strategy for Prevention of Money Laundering (ENCLA), federal counsel, assistant to the prosecutor-general, and head of the first region prosecutor’s office, of the Department of Federal Attorneys (from 1996 to 2003). Madruga was vice president of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime (2005) and president of the group of experts in international cooperation and extradition of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime (2006). He is a lecturer at the Masters programme of the Catholic University of Brasília, and of Instituto Rio Branco (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). He is founding member of the Centre for Studies in International Law (CEDI), Brasília, and author of A possibilidade de renúncia à imunidade de jurisdição e o novo direito da imunidade de jurisdição (2003). He has been a partner of Barbosa, Müssnich & Aragão Advogados since September 2007. Education: Doctorate in International Law from São Paulo University (USP), 2001. Specialisation in Business Law from the Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), 1995. Law degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, 1990. Membership: Brazilian Bar Association.
