David Gutiérrez

BLP Abogados

David Gutiérrez is a founding partner of BLP Abogados and the head of the infrastructure, and corporate and commercial practices of the law firm. He practises on matters dealing with corporate law, project finance, and litigation. He was a foreign lawyer at Washington DC’s international law firm Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale & Door. Before that, he worked as an adviser to the presidency of Costa Rica from 1994 to 1996. He was a partner at KPMG from 2000 to 2003. He has served on several boards, such as vice president of the Costa Rican chapter of Junior Achievement for more than eight years and president of the Costa Rican Association of International Law. He is currently the president of the American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham) Arbitration Center (CICA). He is also the Costa Rican young member representative at the International Bar Association (IBA). He graduated from the University of Costa Rica’s Law School and the Georgetown University Law Center, with honours. He is a Fulbright and Organization of American States scholar. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
