James E Cousar is a partner in the trial practice group in the firm’s Austin office and serves as co-leader of the firm’s government and regulated industry practice group. His practice encompasses international arbitration, state regulatory and licensing matters, campaign finance regulation, and civil litigation in areas including oil and gas and real estate. Mr Cousar received a JD, with honours, from the University of Texas School of Law in 1978 and a BA in Latin American History and Literature, magna cum laude, from Harvard University in 1975, where he was awarded a fellowship for historical research in Argentina by the Institute of Latin American Studies. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
