Born in Herrera, Republic of Panama on 6 January 1938. Education: University of Madrid (Bachelor of Laws, 1960); University of Bordeaux, France (Doctorat de Troisième Cycle en Économie du Développement, 1969). Admitted to practice: Panama (1961). Economic Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (from 1969 to 1970); Professor of Mercantile Law at the Panama University (from 1969 to 1973); Alternate Member of the Delegation of Panama to the United Nations (1970); President of the Institute of Banking Law (1982); Professor of Negotiation Techniques, from 1996 to 2006 at Santa Maria La Antigua University. Co-publisher of Panama Commercial Code with Notes, References and Precedents (Panama,1972) and Panama Civil Code with Notes and References (Buenos Aires, 1973). He is an accredited arbitrator before the Arbitration Centre sponsored by the Panamanian Chamber of Commerce and the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. Mr Castillero was recently decorated with the Medal of Honour to Merit Don Justo Arosemena by the Panamanian College of Lawyers. Languages: Spanish, English and French.
