Fernando Jimenez de Arechaga is senior partner in the firm. He specializes in Banking/Finance, Securities Law, M&A and International Arbitration. Graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 1978, he obtained his degree in the University of Uruguay, School of Law in 1979, and a Master in Business Law at the Uruguayan Institute of Business Studies in 1990. He is part of the roster of arbitrators for the Center for Mediation and Arbitration of the Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce and member of the Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee of Banco Santander. Most notable among the recent deals in which he participated are the ABN AMRO Bank acquisition by Banco Santander (2008), the first public offer securities issued by a financial trust of consumer loans (2008), the issue of debt securities by state-owned electricity company UTE (2009), and the worldwide acquisition of Cadbury by Kraft (2010).
